Putting aside the track - which, for a British artist (back in 1988), was outstanding in it's own right - there was an actual story behind the title. Benjamin Balogun (Overlord X) was so moved by a BBC documentary based on the wrong conviction, and subsequent execution in the US, of Edward Earl Johnson that he wrote "14 Days In May".

The documentary itself was named Fourteen Days In May (broadcasted in 1987) and was following the last 14 days of Edward Earl Johnsons life, where he was on death row for the alleged killing of a white police officer and indecent assault of a 69-year-old white woman. In a follow-up documentary, it claimed to prove conclusively that Edward Earl Johnson was innocent and had been framed.

The point of my review is this - I am all for music being fun, light-hearted and to jump around to, not peddling a message or brainwashing. However, on this occassion music was used to immense effect in highlighting an injustice - AND done by a British Rapper.
