GAI TENDO IS AWESOME PART 1

You know every now and again I like to put on XI and for one reason alone, to play as Gai Tendo!! One of my fav characters from SNK a cool ass MMA fighter.

The bad thing about Gai's Video Game career is that he just happens to be in unpopular games.

Buriki One the first OG MMA fighting game done years ago was his first game, but that wasnt a hit and SNK have since lost the data to it so we will never see it on a special collecters disc.

His next apperance was in KOF 2000 as a striker only :( then finally after years he appeared in XI only for that game to die out very quickly, its a damn shame.

For the love of God SNK please put him in KOF 13, even as a DLC or something, he deserves better, otherwise no Gai no Buy from me :P

Anyway this is me playing through single player (level8) as Gai, because he dont need no team mates :P I know KOF is not surposed to be played like this, especially this one, but who cares this is Gai Tendo and he's awesome!!

KOF11 was pretty popular... in Asia. KOG has never had much of a scene in America but I know for sure it was popular in Asia for a couple of years. I don't know how well it did in Mexico and South America though, I definitely know there's been tournaments down there but I can't say if it was popular as 98 and 02.

I think most players avoided Gai because he was an obvious re-skin of Joe Higashi, and given a choice most players preferred Joe.

@FreeArtFreestheWorld Mexico and SA only really play 2k2 and not even 2k2um I mean og2k2, you must know DG right? well every vid from him is 2k2, I think they might have played XI when it first came on ps2 years ago, but not anymore, hmm I wouldnt call Gai a reskin of Joe, I can see why you said it, but its not really a head swap deal, like they have done in 13 with a few characters, I think Gai has got enough of his own moves and style that set him apart,even if joe was in, I'd still pick Gai.

Hey man,I can't seem to unlock gai tendo on my PS2 copy of KOF XI. It says at gamefaqs that I have to do at least on LDM knockout on a character,and even when I do it,he still won't show up,but at least i've gained acess to Adel,Jazu and even Silber(At least on him.)

Got any alternate info on how to get him?

@Dunes Hmm thats an interesting problem you have, shame he wont show up, as for alternate ways, I believe theirs a time release but I think the hours are pretty high, by that I mean how many hours the game is on for, it then unlocks characters, but I cant remember how long you have to play for, another way is to fail the challenges, I cant remember which challenge it is to unlock Gai but find it and fail it 25-50 times, he should be unlocked after that, I hope it works, thanks for watching.

@sevenforcex Thanks for the reply back Seven,but I did manage to last night find gai and sho in the challenges section and it's in challenge #33,is that the one you mean? Well,all you gotta do is fight Gai,Sho and whoever is left with them,but...the only problem is,it's sheer hell to fight and defeat any of them,they are programmed to go berserk in you in fighting terms.

Epsecially with Gai,he fights like a crazed monkey. Anyways,thanks for the tips,I appreciate it.

Gai Tendo mi fav char and one of the best snk character...

Seo Yong Song and Takato Saionyi would be a great Buriki team in a new kof.

Pretty fun character.

I preferred his alternate in Buriki though (brown hair/red pants).

Gai, Silber, and Python were pretty awesome designs.....hope they bring'em back!

Gai is a fun character to use, although a bit hard to master his move set (at least in my experience using him).

I would love for a new Buriki One game to come out though. Especially given how popular MMA has become. I can definitely see a Buriki One type game being fun to play nowadays. =]

The Gai Sniper is like one badass move. Nothing says Jericho-esque Armbar than that.

@sevenforcex Hey seven,I just wanted to tell you that I at last figured out what LDM completely measn due to the move list. I used Shing's super LDM on some opponents and at last got Gai and Sho. Sho's plays well,but man Gai is smooth and hard hitting in the ring to use. I'm glad to have him and others in my collection. Thanks for the help you did give. KOF rules!
