  • Hi Ron...the pedal steel guitar i am playing is a mid 70's ZB Custom SD-10, which has 10 strings, many pedal steel guitar manufactures made 8, 10, 11, 12, & 14 string pedal steels...i believe that there was even a few 16 string pedal steels made, but 10 strings is enough for me...i have tried the extended 12 string universal E-9th which play nice...thanks for the compliment...Brian
