Chill out, hes playing FLAMENCO bass! For those of you not bright enough to understand, thats a different style that what you would consider "normal" bass playing.  Would I ever play like that on a "normal" bass guitar? Hell no. But do I appreciate talent when I see it and understand that this guy is doing something thats actually interested and creative? Hell yes!

No point in criticizing Benavent based in one video which happens to be a solo... if you actually knew this guy's work you would know that he can play about anything with extreme taste and groove. He is unique and special and for that i respect him even more. He is by the way an awesome person, and a great teacher.

Criticizing Carles, aren't we.. For brilliantly unconventional usage of a musical instrument and confusing masses with creativity?.. Ay ay ay!.. How dares he?! That's definitely punishable by glory!

And btw, somehow I suspect that he's capable of doing regular BoomBoomBoomBoom a little better than other BoomBoomBoomers..

@mheadbass just because a 6 string bass is in a sense a lower pitch range guitar, doesn't mean it should be played the same as an electric. Bass is more suitable for slapping, but wouldn't have the same effect as a guitar for screeching solos, and would be much harder to do complex shredding on. I'm not saying it can't/shouldn't be done - but bass guitar and electric guitar, although sharing some similarities, are different instruments, and should be treated as such.
