@spikutus The idea of being exact in your performance is a more modern idea. It was a kind of standardization so that judges could watch your taolu and see what you were doing and compare to others. Older styles of quanfa pay little attention to finishing exactly where you started, or in moving the exact same way every time; They were more concerned with combat effectiveness.

The Cheng Style these men practice is very old, and very strong.

@spikutus Your teacher is probably just wanting you to be exact in your training at this time. When I train I was taught that you can take 8 steps before each change, or you could take one step, it just depends on what aspect your training. But also I cannot speak for every "style" of bagua, I study Cheng, Sun, and Gao.

When I learned bagua, my teacher taught us to complete the circle with 8 steps, and to land in the same spot every time. But I notice this man stops all over and does not always take 8 steps. Does anyone know if this is important? Just curious.

These guys have the real stuff, You can just tell from all there postings. I have learnt 8 palms from Chen Yun Ching Son of Chen PAn Ling, His is also meant to be cheng style from chengs son, It is nothing like this Bagua though, I think it's because Specticles cheng died when his boys were young. This is the real stuff though. no one will tell you how to find these guys though. It's a shame
