This is Bruce (Iron Maiden's singer) Dickinson's Book of Thel from the 1998 Chemical Wedding album.

Note that this is my own interpretation of this song and it may contain some errors. I also recorded it as a first try. The original bass track for this song is incredibly clean, deap and clear. I consider this cover has a fair but not great tribute to this song.

I used an old Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Pro 4 sound card to record this track. The camera is a Canon FS21.

Bass description:
5 String Custom MF bass (Michel Fournelle). Fodera Victor Wooten Signature strings. Koa Top. Maple neck. Mahogany body. All gold hardware. Bartolini active pick-ups. Made in Montreal 1995.

Excellent cover! Eddie Casillas is one of my favourite bass players. I was always wondering how he achieved that distinct selective sound that on some tracks (The Tower for example) sounds almost as if he's using some kind of muting technique. You seem to recreate it almost perfectly - how did you do that?

    Hi! Thanks for your interest.

I don't think I do justice to his technique, I try my best but it is really not as solid as he does it. I know how to do it, but I just don't have the skills to make it perfect like he does. It's a matter of striking the string with one finger and precipitate the other finger has fast has you can on the same string to mute it. Then you strike the string with the finger already muting it and so on. I should give a try at "The Tower" and see if I can handle that. :)

Hi! These might be on ultimateguitar(dot)com. It would be very long to create the tabs. Since I have a full time job and a family, the time I dedicate to music is very limited and I prefer spending it on playing my basses. By the way... I'm not even sure if my version it 100% accurate. :)

    Thanks for stopping by.

Looking forward to see that! I knew there's something more to it than simple finger playing : ) I'm waiting for 'The Tower' and in the meantime I'll try this technique myself.
