SoftBase can help you code, test, and deploy your DB2 applications for z OS. SoftBase's D B I Q can help developers code standardized SQL and help you insure that only approved SQL goes into production. DB I Q will report errors with the application and provide best practices suggestions. It will help your developers debug quickly and create applications that run much more efficiently.

SoftBase also offers a powerfull solution for testing applications called TestBase. TestBase is an application for DB2 that copies subsets of production data into a single database in the test area. It automatically masks any data tagged as sensitive when it copies from the production database. Your developers will never be able to see this sensitive data.
SoftBase also offers a patented technology called Slice. Slice allows your developers to all test at the same time in the same database, by providing each developer their own slice of data with which to test. And even if one of your developers corrupts their own slice, they can reload their own slice from a backup that they manage. This means that all your developers can test with their own copy of the data, without needing your help with refreshing or managing data TestBase and Slice can save you lots of time and money on development!
SoftBase also helps keep applications in production running smoothly with their Batch Health Care solution. It consists of 4 applications: Batch Analyzer; the Attach Facility; the Checkpoint Restart Facility; and Deadlock Advisor. Batch Analyzer helps you locate your worst performing batch DB2 jobs and their poor performing SQL. Because of a unique way that Batch Analyzer collects its performance data, its overhead is a fraction of what other monitors can cost. It finds poorly performing SQL and batch problems that most other monitors miss. Batch Analyzer reports COMMIT frequencies to help identify programs that may be causing dead lock time outs, and will estimate the ROLLBACK times for each batch job if it should fail. These jobs are then your best candidates for the Checkpoint Restart Facility. The Attach Facility will save storage space by eliminating the use of TSO. The newest version includes patented Variable Commit Frequency technology, which helps has shown to substantial reductions in CPU usage and elapsed time.
DeadLock Advisor can help you quickly identify deadlock causes. It is the first DB2 tool to identify the source of deadlock timeouts and resource unavailable conditions and output the DB2 messages that are normally found in the DB2 Master job log, into the offending and offended job's job logs. With DeadLock Advisor, programmers can quickly identify the cause of deadlocks by examining the joblog of the affected application.
Take a look at SoftBase's Batch Checkpoint. It allows you to quickly insert COMMITs and CHECKPOINTS into your DB2 batch job streams - in some instances without even editing your programs. Then if a batch program fails, it will restart automatically from the most recent checkpoint. You can say goodbye to those late night phone calls when an application fails!
