  • @Sambucca also, yes it is true some of the best tracuers were competitive gymnasts. however, some of the best tracuers are also homegrown. i am homegrown, i do lack technique in some areas, but ive also only been doing this for 6 months. i beleive you should start by learning the moves, then honing them, as i have done. one last thing. some competitive gymnasts start by doing back flips and other flips and say they do parkour, and then they actually suck at true parkour. flips arent everything.

  • @Sambucca sure, a double back flip onto concrete would be stupid, if they hadn't trained for it. I absolutely hate when people tell me, don't do that, you're gonna break a leg. i know my physical limits. any true tracuer does. the worst injury Ive ever gotten was twisting my ankle. and that was just running. furthermore, since there is scoring system in parkour, there's not really a need for technique. your way too anylitical. parkour has no rules, so all competition is against yourself.

  • @braveraxeblade

Doing a double backflip onto concrete from a 30ft high rooftop is, in my opinion, bloody stupid, but to each his own. Competitive gymnasts aren't judged for their 'courage' although they couldn't possibly excel without it. They're judged on technique, something which a lot of home-schooled parkour guys tend to lack. Some of the best parkour artists in the world began as competitive gymnasts.

  • @Sambucca probably not, but with no experience in gymnastics, i would imagine those moves are easier to have the courage to attempt than a 30ft double backflip with no pads.
