I am well aware of that and no one is denying the importance of consistency. However, what I said has nothing to do with your counter-argument - you are arguing against an imaginary argument. That's what I had in mind when I said you have mental issues.
The point is very simple - it takes a seasoned drummer to play in a way that doesn't just serve the song but CONTRIBUTES to it and THAT's what playing ANY INSTRUMENT is all about.

Doesn't make what I said any less true, though. A proficient drummer is a consistent drummer, and consistency is organized around time. Plain and simple. If you don't understand that, then that's your problem.

@whatshendrix Yeah, and I'm sure you'd say that "music" is not about bars and time signatures. Sorry, but simply beating the snare and stomping your feet as fast as you possibly can is not good drumming. Drumming IS a form of time keeping, and anyone who's been drumming for a signficant amount of time would agree.Granted, that's not ALL drumming is about, but by and large, that's what it comes down to.

@DrHowlingMad It's not about how fast or how crazy you go that determines whether or not you're a good drummer. Any dumbass can just pound away on the drums. It's about how WELL you can hold the song together and keep the tempo going smooth. That's what drumming is all about---TIME KEEPING.
