Oh, and cosplayers don't have to be asian. Unless you're a perfectionist cosplayer and the anime you like firmly states it takes place in Japan with Japanese people, like Durarara!!, then you can be any enthicity. Like in Hetalia, they are all of different nationalities but all in the same anime style. So, if Japan is in anime style and is Japanese, then because Italy is in anime style he is asian, too? Nope! Could be anything~~

Okay, guys, Cosplay is not really "all about" anything. People have different interpretations of it, so it has no real dictionary meaning. Some people cosplay for fun, because they like that character and want other people to see that. Others cosplay because they want to really "bring that character to life" and try to make it perfect. There's lots of reasons to cosplay, and no one should ever judge eachother on it. Anyone can do it for whatever reason! oh and Hetalia ftw...//shot

Mhmm, but then they are still exaggerating something.
-
@Arriss3 yes except for in series like Hetalia where they give everyone kinda similar looking faces regardless of the culture and the way they differentiate the cultures is mainly by other features like clothing and exaggerated accents.
-
Mhmm exactly,..which is why the characters don't look vry "asian" like to westerners because we go off our stereotype while they go off their ideal. While when they draw westerners they go off of their stereotype of what a westerner looks like.

@XxpsychokittydxX Not saying the characters don't look Asian, just saying that a non Asian person could also look like the character. I've seen people of multiple different races who look Asian or have similar features to an Asian but aren't Asian at all. So basically someone who has those features could do a cosplay of an Asian character successfully too.
-
@XxpsychokittydxX or sometimes they're a parody of the culture itself.
-
@Arriss3 yes because cartoons tend to be modeled after an cultural ideal for the most part.
-
@Arriss3 and that's the reason why i said they looked kinda ambiguous to me because the exaggeration takes away from the ethnic features in a way. i mean big eyes, small nose and smallish lips is open to a lot of ethnic interpretation. especially in moe and chibi style anime/manga. i can tell they're supposed to be asian because of my experience with manga culture, but at the same time, i can also see why someone would think otherwise.

Cosplaying is about making the character come to life. -_- if you look nothing like the character you fail at doing so. Secondly, Ed was gold hair and gold eyes you fucking idiot. >.< If you were to actually look passed hair and eye color you can see structure of the face is based of Asians. Lastly, I never said Asians were perfect. -_-''
