He knew that it could take him over, he'd just been trying to keep it back. it's like the "drugs" of the anime XDDDD ppl know what they're smokin, know it's bad for them, yet they do it. and then when something happens, they rely on it, even though it really doesn't do anything but mess up your life.

@1942PANTHERV yeah. He could have prevented it. that's what he'd been doing... taking advantage of it so that it doesnt eat him up... until he lost guts. then, because of that, he relied on it more and let the thing control him.
