In his book "" To Be The Man "" Ric Flair explains in detail the importance of this match and how it played hudge for him over in Japan. Ric speaks highly of Bruiser Brody. Both great competitors ! God Bless you Frank ! Frank Donald Goodish : June 18 1946 - July 17 1988 . Passed away at the age of 42. Assassinated at the hands of José Huertas González .

Saw this match from the front row.I was eleven. Weird seeing myself on it today. Still the best I have ever seen. No ring music in those days in St.Louis, but you should have heard the BRODY! BRODY! BRODY! chants just before he came out. And the pop when he jerked the curtain is still the loudest I have heard or will ever hear. Got to meet before he was murdered and will always be my hero.

m.fkn' wow!!! i'd give up a toe to have seen that! best i can say is, i touched the old school awa belt, the one that hansen destroyed with his pick-up, while it was around the waist of a great worker & champ, rick martel. he was wrestling in montreal, my hometown, & i had 'backstage' access. i was 11. out comes martel wearing the belt, on his way to the ring. he tussled my hair & i tapped the belt. man, what memories...let me guess, flair over casey by cheating, & a double dq for frank & abby?

Why do the announcers keep mentioning Chicago? Did they kayfabe their audience back home to make them think this took place in Chicago so as to appear more major league?
