Glory - Movie 1989 - The 54th Massachusetts Regiment starts it's famous assault on Battery Wagner.
Glory is a 1989 Academy Award-winning drama based on the history of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment during the American Civil War. The 54th was one of the first formal units of the U.S. Army to be made up entirely of African American men (apart from the officers). The first was the 1st South Carolina Volunteers.
James Horner composed the soundtrack to the film. One of the most popular tracks is Charging Fort Wagner. This music plays when the regiment charges the fort. The Boys Choir of Harlem were featured on the entirety of the soundtrack.

The Battle of Antietam scene is also one of the best recreated battle scenes! better then gettysburg, better then the garabage petersburg scene in cold mountain. the only movie that comes close to glory is gods and generals. ww2 has nothing on the civil war so the saving pvt ryan crap is out of the picture. if you want ww2, band of brothers is what people needs to see. patton is to long and just enhances his ego that he never deserved.
fort wagner is located on a peninsula on the western part of charleston. the union navy really couldn't get into charleston without taking a heavy toll. what the movie didn't tell us is there were 5 other regiments that followed right after the 54th had gone in. general strong died from the wounds he received during the fighting. but to change it up a little another movie that talks about the 54th is andersonville.
by far the best movie that tells a story about anything dealing with the civil war. and as for the idiot that said that shaws body was returned, shut the hell up and brush up on your history. Frank Shaw wrote: We would not have his body removed from where it lies surrounded by his brave and devoted soldiers....We can imagine no holier place than that in which he lies, among his brave and devoted followers, nor wish for him better company what a body-guard he has!

Thanks!
Give em hell 54th
Shaw's body was actually thrown in the mass grave (with his troops), as it was a sign of disrespect from the confederates
there was a proposition to dig up his body, but his father said he was proud that his son was buried with his men
