I wander why did i asked you about Ballard when you included his novels and mentioned him as one of your faves... Must have missed it completely.

@noxnocturne No Kidding? I thought you read 1984 and We and thus prefered We which would have been o.k. since tastes are different. So, simply see my top 10 list as recommendation and choose for yourself what books to read and like.

@DrGull1888 Yes certainly, haven't read any Orwell work..so I'm new in the dystopic community, that's why I will consider "We" first.

Another question: Have you read Stanislaw Lem?

@makidtrej Not one single book nor short story.
By the way happy birthday.

@DrGull1888 Why thank you!
And by the way, Lem is one of the most intelligent sc fi writers.
If you are into really good hard science fiction, i recommend you Fiasco or the The Invincible. If you want to read some mind-blowing philosophical sci fi, read Solaris, His Master`s Voice or Memoirs Found in a Bathtub.

@makidtrej Thanks a lot for your recommendations. I don't know why I've ignorred Lem so far. Perhaps he's in my dead spot since I mainly read historical non fiction, followed by alternate history and dystopian novels.

@DrGull1888 Ah, and epoch novels. I forgot epoch novels. They make certain time periods understandable.
