@onekgguy Yes, that's true. But as there are two screens available to switch between, you could make one where half of the screen is filled with your speed, and the other half with different data, and then another screen with the rest of what you want..
@onekgguy - all sorted now. i was assuming the maps were already installed after loading the dvd. i needed to highlight sections and save the file. anyway, thanks for the advice.
@triwillb Have you been to the Garmin forum to pose your question? There are some good people there who may be able to help you, plus you may find a similar problem with a solution.
@onekgguy - yeh sorry - forgot to mention that - i've bought everything that's relevant - i went for the DVD instead of the map chip - much more complicated. i don't know whether it's worth just driving 100 miles to ask them to sort it out in person. thanks anyway.
@triwillb Does the DVD software say that it includes maps for the region where you'll be using it? I live in the US and had to purchase the North American map chip for my 705. I would guess that there would also be a similar requirement for maps of Europe as well. The basic maps the unit comes with aren't very detailed.
Any ideas why I still have the basic map on my device? I've installed the software from the DVD. Another tendency is for the directions to be displayed in terms of "Go South" instead of "turn right". Have a trip across EU organised and time's running out...

@robieski The font size? Yes, but I think you lose some of the data fields if you need to go bigger, don't you?

@onekgguy You can change that on your edge..
