  • I danced to the Dorsey Band in the 50s at Lake Compounce in connecticut. I'm still dancing too.

  • @Halo101st, who ever said swing was only for adults?

  • ive always liked the dorsey bros. they had a keen ear for talent. up until la cosa vecchio got a hold of James. they were the voice of the war era

  • Ah the 40s! When women could flirt even when singing and not have "wardrobe malfunctions".

  • Wow Bob is so cute. Note Helens dress at 2:30!! what an era

  • @waldo330 Swing is kids music actually.

  • Re: the comments regarding Miss Helen's attire....I am listening to that beautiful voice & admiring that beautiful young lady...the dress was just a fashion prop of the times, but this recording & music is timeless...Bob & Helen were just fantastic talents and I love the music of that time era...today where is the creation of new beautiful songs...I have to go back in time to find them...go to New Orleans F-Qtr and thats what you hear, yesterday's beautiful music.

  • @soulwho How was I taking a shot at HER? I was talking about what she's wearing, and I'll focus on whatever I want. I'm sure some director/producer/designer chose the dress. Regardless, it's hideous. As far as her talent and beauty go... I believe you're entitled to your opinion. Why can't you extend others the same courtesy?

  • @nauort23

A gratuitous shot at the most beautiful and talented singer of the age. This is an astounding performance by Helen, and that's what you should be focused on. I've seen still shots of this movie that bring out the color of the dress and it's beautiful. It's a perfect combination of sexy and cute. But again, where is your compliment for Helen?

  • Boy, they don't make ballrooms like this anymore, do they. My Dad LOVED Helen O'Connell and Bob Eberly--and he ADORED this song. Dad's gone now, but when ever I hear it, I think of him even more and that whole WWII era--which he says was the best years of his life. P.S. That Bob and Helen make a smashing vocal duo--looks and voice wise.

  • @songplugger LOL. Thanks. If you mean the dress she's wearing at the end of the movie "Romance on the HIgh Seas", then yeah, that's pretty bad, I'll agree--but this Jetsons-meets-Little Women number that Helen O'Connell's wearing here still takes the cake IMO.

  • @nauort23 : You want to see an ugly dress? Go look up Doris Day singing "It's Magic".
