Robby-Thanks you so very much for posting this. It gives all of us a glimpse inside what went on inside the studio with JT and crew. The interaction that takes place between the players, how much thought and decision goes into just a few seconds of audio, and why his albums sound so great. Thanks again Robby! (You wouldnt be any relation to Merle Kilgore would you?)

@RobbyKilgore Robby, thanks so much for posting this! As I told Sklar on an earlier post, Carlos is one of my heroes and a friend of my father's from back in the day with The Bellamy Brothers.

At least they didn't bite each other's heads off on how it should sound.

@D1994 Lee I'm right with you...Because of my dad, I grew up listening to Carlos. Carlos influences my playing and also my buddy Rodney's playing. and Grolnick...great piano player....miss them terribly.

This is a real pleasure! To sit in on a session. Wow, what a great upload! The intelligence, the creativity of these guys. The simple throwing around of ideas, bouncing things off one another. Knowing exactly where the other guy is going with it. Drummers like the sadly missed Vega, Kunkle, Marotta have been my drumming inspiration. To play with such finesse, to know instinctively what fits a given song. That's musicianship, that's taste, that's knowing your craft. Thanks!
Yes it is. Miss him.

We had the best time in the studio working on this album. Food was a big part of it. I miss Carols every day. And Grolnick! I can't believe they are gone. As they say, "These were the days!" ..... sklar

More! I want to hear him take a crack at it.
This is pretty fascinating to see them work.
Correction: they're actually working on the song "Sweet Potato Pie" from the album Never Die Young, released in 1988. The song "Copperline" is from New Moon Shine, released in 1991.

I stand corrected. That makes sense actually. This is on the same tape as the Carly shoot (right before it actually) so they must have happened around the same time.
I actually have a little more footage from the same session. I'll probably repost eventually with more...cheers - rk
