  • Hey Folks,

Had a crazy experience this weekend playing at Buddy Guys Legends. Gus Thornton was in the audience. Gus was the bass player the night this vid was shot. He played with Albert King and was on In Session w SRV, San Francisco 83, Phone Booth, etc. We didn't know he was there until after the show so I invited up the road to Kingston Mines for a late night jam. What a night !!! Thanks Gus !!

  • It had to b Fm because the song is in D and he is capo up three.

  • Buddy Guy a lightweight compered to these guys!

  • Otis Rush. He does the upside down thing. Talk about a guy that gets no pub. Look him up and you'll hear a lot of licks that SRV borrowed. Otis Rush was really under appreciated.

I remember seeing Collins in 1989 and being about as disappointed as I could be. He spent more time jerking around with his Super Reverb than he did playing and it was the same 2 licks over and over.

  • AK hands down. They would both be destroyed by Buddy Guy. Just ask Magic Sam! Collins Rocked but King was a Classic. What other blues guitarist playing left-handed without re-stringing and changing the nut? Enough said!

  • That speaker cover is actually his guitar case - he used to prop it in front of his amp in small clubs so he could turn his amp up and get it to drive without blowing people out of their seats, a neat trick!

  • Shhhh!!!!...... )

  • Albert King was fooling with his speaker cover??? then, plays with his tuning keys, listening trying to get his tone right..unsure of himself. He's STILL MY MAN! I put his live cd on..and play note for note with him...still a challege. If you listen...he play the same licks all the time. Good enough for me! SRV Too! To play that ALBERTS ...you gots to step down a half step on the tuning...whole step drop as far as I'm concerned is too slappy.

  • Albert Collins was a better guitar player...Collins was being nice,He could have tore Albert King UP! Two of my all-time favs there!

  • Collins Played a Quad Reverb...basically a Twin with 4X12...i think they were 135 watts...something like that

  • albert won that one for sure! .... thanks for posting
