We colud also be millions of years ahead of them as well, don't forget that besides all the possible positions in space another civilization may inhabit, there is also the issue of time - especially when you take into account the somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 billion plus year age of the universe.

Wow, dont just throw things out there. There is life on many galaxies that we dont even know about yet because their light has not even got to our sight. The thing is we are so pathetic we have not even found them, but how would we know if they havent found us?
