It is the bondage of maya; the movement to balance and complete that which can never be completed and balanced. But in the middle of this way of nature, Grace can open. It can come in all shapes and forms, a holy man, a young child, a sunset, a perfect cloud in a brilliant blue sky. Grace points to that which is beyond nature; that which transcends the limits of the world.

Love this film so much! I've seen it 8 times, and it can say something new to me every time I watch it.... I feel so sorry for those people who don't understand this film or can't experience it..... Most beautiful film ever!

Watch The Thin Red Line, if you haven't already. It is also a Terrence Malick film. It is every bit as stunning and powerful as Tree of Life in my opinion.

Interesting that Malick took the "Imitation of Christ" by Kempis (Book 3, Chapter LIV) and include it on this film. One of the best chapters of the book...
