My recent practice with Chadwick. The ground was a little too sloppy for me to work on his pattern at the lope, but it was fine for the trot. He's pretty good about his turns and setting himself up for the barrel start. You can see in the first video where he dived halfway through the 2nd barrel, and then in the 2nd vid of barrels you can see where he tried to drop in the 3rd where I had to push him back out. It was a sloppy 3rd turn, but it was better than letting him drop and tip.
I'm very proud of him, though I didn't get it on video, Chadwick is also backing very smoothely now. He is also sidepassing, and is getting a lot better with pivoting on his back end rather than walking off on his front.
He is also A LOT better about cantering a circle. He still fights me a little bit when he wants to keep going his way, but its a lot better and we manage to keep our circle. I am so very proud of him.
Also, I've been working on some showmanship etiquette with him. He now walks forward & stops without pressure. He can also back without pressure, and tonight I finally got him to jog with a handler on the ground. He's a very smart horse, and I couldn't be happier with his progress.
Chadwick is such a good boy! Your lucky he has a natural headset, makes it so much easier for training. He looked good on the 2nd video of him troting the barrels. Are you going to enter him in any wp or trail classes this year?

Yeah, his headset is one of the many good things about him that I can't get over, lol.
And I think I might. He can have a real nice soft jog when I ask him for it, so I'm thinking about entering him in some WP classes at NNHPC. :) Speaking of which, you coming to the next show in May? j/w ^_^
