The Lady of Shalott, Lotte Reiniger, Jan Pienkowski

Inspired by the early 20thC animations of Lotte Reiniger, the children's farytale illustrations of Jan Pienkowski and the magical silhouette and text work of Rob Ryan, we created our own adptation of "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. We worked together in small groups designing and planning separate sections. Some groups used light boxes and some used split pins to move the characters. Unfortunately we did not have time to recreate every line and verse, but we hope we have managed to communicate the flavour and essense of this great Romantic tragedy.
