i was trying to do the same thing with holding the controller weird and then reassigning buttons to no avail =/

TO ALL PEOPLE! IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK HE IS ALTERNATING BETWEEN A PS3 PAD AND A 360 PAD, THIS GUY IS GOOD ON BOTH SYSTEMS!
