The opening number is putting me to sleep. The character's name is EARTHQUAKE McGOON. Not Sleepytime McGOON.
All the kids needed to do to "get it" was to
A, read some Lil Abner comics
B, Watch the movie
C, Have to director tell them to act the parts with feeling.
