This video will show you an easy way to heat up your GPU in your 360. I recommend doing the RROD fix prior to doing this. Some people call this reflowing your GPU but unless you melt the solder to the point that you can remove the GPU then it is not a true reflow. This allows you to get the GPU really hot though so it should last for a long time. DO NOT do the towel trick it is not good to heat up the CPU.

I have had a lot of comments that state this is a crappy fix and I agree. THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX! It is 100% better than the towel trick or the oven bake. Do not do those, they have a very high risk/chance of damaging your system.

OK now on to the better news. You can fix your xbox permanently without a real reflow however you much do this or a heatgun fix AND hot wire 12V power to the fans. I have a few systems now that have been running for over a year now with this fix. Basically the problem with the xbox is it heats up too much and warps the board. If you can prevent the heat then if you can get your 360 to work again you have a VERY good chance of keeping it running.

Also some people do not seem to understand that heating up the xbox in any form is NOT GOOD, it was not intended to be heated up so you CAN cause damage doing any of these fixes so be careful. This video shows the least likely way of damaging a 360 for a beginer so I thought it was helpful video but I'm getting slammed by all the so-called self declared experts because this is not the best way (I agree) to repair it however it does have the least amount of risk. Anyone who tries this should agree with me because I have proved it to work on over 30 boxes but I now use a heatgun to ensure a better melt. I do not reflow but I do think that is the best way to go if you want to invest the cash in it.

I will add a 12V power video mod soon. Good luck with your mods/fixes.

  • in this video i saw you have a whole lot of xbox 360 casing in the corner on the table. when i pause it at 2:11 i counted 4 and the one your working with is 5.

i was wondering why did you buy so many xbox360 was it the other broke or you couldn't fix it and are you selling them the other 4 that i saw at 2:11 seconds.

just a question. but if you are will you let people know if your interested in selling it

  • Absolutely I sell them too. Just send me an email here and we can discuss terms.

  • People who think this is a reflow solution are misguided. With a heatsink attached to the GPU, it won't get anywhere near the 220ish degrees C required to melt the solder in the ball grid array beneath the GPU - all this does is cause a temporary connection in the fractured connection points that may or may not last. Only a proper reflow will solve the problem permanently.

  • I agree HOWEVER I personally have 3 systems that I have fixed using this method AND fan upgraded and they have been working no probs for over a year. So if this is all you do you are right it is NOT permanent.

  • the system by itself will not get hot enough to reflow the solder

  • i used the same heat gun.. hot as a mofo!! Black & Decker FTW!!!

  • about 1 minute or so till it is too hot to touch with your finger. If you were to say thousand you shouldn't be able to get to the "and".

  • lol throughout the video the main thing i kept noticing was the the 7 or so other 360's in the corner

  • how long did you leave it on for?

  • Hi,

I get the 0020 overheat code. I've taken both the gpu and cpu cooling pieces out, cleaned the old paste off with alcohol and put new paste. the 1st time I started the xbox, it worked fine.. but after that I got the same code again... any idea what could be the problem?

  • My xbox goes on for about 1 minute then it shows me 2 red lights.. What should i do? Should i maybe get a better thermal compound? I am currently using super adhesive grease...

  • i always do it like that and it seems to work in most cases.

just have to repeat it now and again
