FYI you were half right with the hip firing, if you want to get the jump on some one what you ant to do is shoot first but while you are shooting aim down the site. And instead of moving the right analog stick to aim move the left alalog stick back and fourth it will steady your shot and you will be moving so it will be harder for you enemys to shoot you.

try hip fireing in hardcore mode then youll realize that they put sights on guns for a reason
