@joelchummel I find it sad though. If Russia would have put the system into effect sooner and established it better, they could have had that prosperous society while retaining the rights the people deserve. But since they started out with a bankrupt and corrupt government, I dont blame them for wanting the security, prosperity, and even the National Pride that communism provided.
@VonPete105 and just for the record, the canal padlock which traditionally was credited to Leonardo Da Vinci, guess what the canal padlocks were being built in China hundred of years before he was born.
@VonPete105 we all know just for the last 300 years the western civilization took off. but from the year1 to the year 1820s the largest economy in the world was constantly China and India. it's been a historical aberration for the last 300 years and we all know all aberration must come to an end and back to the normal pattern. that's why all the history text books in the world has to be rewritten because it's cover only the span of 300 years or so and it's too eurocentric.
@VonPete105 between the eunuchs and the mandarins. Chinese could circumnagivate the world using astromical and calendar system which at that time the european didn;'t have a clue on &the west still had the perspective of geocentric teaching, the chinese had known it's the the sun was the centre of our universe. the mandarins burnt all the chinese books of inventions and they kept all the knowledge for themselves....just dig deeper about chinese history...
@VonPete105 Investigate about the origin of chinese invention and european invention. chinese invented compass, gun powder, kite, umbrella, papermaking, printing (both woodblock and movable), paper money, moveable sail and rudder, porcelain, canal and locks, mechanical clock, smallpox innoculation, the 1st calculator in the world which is abacus, spinning wheel, and thousand more of inventions. Chinese adopted closed door policy since the ming dynasty due to internal power struggle
@CrazyGuy259 no argument there. democracy and capitalism don't work the same for everyone, and even the U.S. is facing severe problems. Many Russians actually prefer the stability of the old days - even though life sucked, at least they knew what to expect. Nowadays things are too volatile, and many blame westernization. This from my Russian friend in Moscow, who oddly enough owes her livelihood to an American accounting firm doing business there.
