cactus is the planes callsign the flight number is 1549 so every one who is saying its 1549 actually you dont contact the plane by saying 1549 i know this because im studying air law and ground comunications at my local airport

@aolambrose He had it correct, it was exactly the same as how the ATC said it and also how the pilots said it.

The ATC sounded like he was almost in tears when he couldn't get a response. What a calm pilot. Horrible thing to happen to anybody.
