Preaching of Steven Furtick from Elevation Church on the power of prayer, and the miracle that God performed with Joshua making the sun stand still... a powerful message...
Follow my reflections about it on my blog... www.faculuz.blogspot.com
This is for all of the fake 'intellectuals' that try to break down this great message. The entire galaxy is rotating about the Milky Way's center. Relative to the universe, the galaxy is moving at a speed of 370 mi per sec in the same direction that the constellation Leo lies relative to the earth; it is also moving at 60 mi per sec relative to the center of mass of the Local Group of galaxies. The sun, traveling at a speed of c.150 mi per sec, takes 200 million years to complete one revolution.
@whatupmynamesdan Well, if that's how you want to be, Our Galaxy spins as well as moves so yes it in fact the sun DOES move. That aside a first century writer who witnessed time stopping would obviously describe such an event in that way. Instead of trying to make yourself sound intellectual, try opening up yourself to something bigger than yourself.
No one knew back then that the sun wasn't moving but that the earth was rotating, but God even answered Joshua's prayer he prayed in ignorance. That is encouraging to me because a lot of times I pray without fully understanding the whole picture. God knows our HEART, not necessarily that we fully understand the details of what we ask for. God created the sun and the earth, so He knew what Joshua meant. :)
