he will never be 100% redeemable, he knows it, we know it, thus he is a great conflicted, tortured soul-one of the greatest in all of soaps, created by the great Roger Howarth-in lesser hands, he would have remained the day player he was hired for

This was actually when I was fascinated with Todd, the whole bad guy/tortured routine worked for me. It is no secret that I now hate the character with a passion, but there was point when RH portrayed him the character had real DEPTH, before he became cartoonish and mean. He wasn't just hateful. You could see the layers within him and even the goodness, esp. when Viki was going through her DID and Todd was on her side trying to help. Wow!

Uh BIG difference between Luke and Laura vs Todd and Marty. Luke did not plan to rape Laura and was immediately sorry for what he did (true, genuine remorse). Todd plotted Marty's rape, it was premeditated. And he relentlessly harrassed and terrorized her after that. And the writers tried to make Todd into some kind of a sex symbol and Marty into a vindictive shrew!
