Grammy-winning songwriter/producer and Logic user Bryan Michael Cox is one of R&B's most sought after talents. His deep passion for music and creative talent have led him to work with Fergie, Mariah Carey, Usher, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, Jessica Simpson and scores of other top recording artists. Bryan has appeared on the Year End Billboard Hot 100 Producers list multiple times and in 2003, he was named the SESAC songwriter of the year.

In the inaugural episode of Rehearsal Space, Bryan talks about his work in reality TV on programs like Making the Band and American Idol. He laments the tendency to be pigeon holed by the industry once you make a hit within a particular genre, listing some surprising musical inspirations. Bryan goes on to offer a three part recipe for successful song making. Stay tuned to the very end for a special segment on the making of the music in the fourth season of Making the Band with Sam Thomas, Bryan's audio engineer.

  • @RizzoAstronama THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU PLAY AN INSTRUMENT....you need to understand the difference...alicia keys , b cox they play the piano....timberland knows how to create melodies but is not a piano player facck

  • @nyakzn18 How can you PLAY a lead without an instrument idiot? every song has to have a lead...

  • @RizzoAstronama I do not think you know what a producer is!!a producer does not need to know how to play an instrument

  • You don't have to know how play instruments. you just have to know what sounds good together.

  • @nyakzn18 Timbaland uses piano...last i checked piano is an instrument

  • @RizzoAstronama no they really don't timberland can't even player an instrument. Learn what a producer does

  • Can you please add interactive transcript?

  • so true, the melody's everything. B. Cox is one of the best producers in the game, has been for awhile.

  • @Vanjal...nonsense. What makes you think a Bryan Micheal Cox couldn't producer a funk, rock or Jazz record? What's of greater signifigance to adaptability is your ear, knowledge of music or music theory, and/or experience. None of which is limited by producing hip-hop music.

  • @RizzoAstronama I agree. Producers and engineers should be at least familiar with how different instruments are played or to get along with basics.
