The IronMan 230 hobart welder is a very capable machine.
This video is the summary of several other videos that show mig welding on thin steel, open butt root pass on plate, lap joints using both co2 and 75/25 argon/co2, and mig welding aluminum using a spool gun. ..enjoy

  • Thanks for the review. One question though: On the sewer fixture video, you did at least one pass with spray transfer. Was the Ironman 230 the machine you used for that, or was it a different machine? If it *was* the IM230, would you mind sharing what settings and what gas mix you were using?

  • @EfEmDee I used a different machine for spray transfer. The Ironman does not quite enough voltage. I think I was on around 25-26 volts and around 350-375 ipm wire speed using .035" wire 90/10 argon/co2

  • @weldingtipsandtricks Thank you Jody.

  • nice

  • Awesome video, as usual. Keep up the great work!

  • I bought an Ironman 230 just before new years for $1250. plus free shipping. It replaced my 20 yrs old Hobart Beta Mig 250, a very similar machine. Am really happy with Ironman230. It Runs very nice. The 15 ft gun cable instead of a 12 ft. is nice, too. The only thing I miss is there are no lifting rings. I used to hoist the old mig up on the crane, to reach up high sometimes, and cannot do that with this new one.

  • iam glad you have the time and money to show the welding world more about it. thanks .local1348 millwrights northern mn.

  • great thanks. its realy usefull videos about welding. Great thanks
