The Diary of Bernadeth, a factory worker

Just recently, around 12,000 OFW factory workers lost their jobs because of the recession. One by one, they were forced to return home.

Bernadeth Medianista is one of those repatriated from Taiwan last week. On her return, she was not able to buy presents for her family. This is because her salary for her six months work in a factory was not given to her.

Now, Bernadeth has a hard time thinking where she will get the money to cover her familys expenses in Iloilo. Her mother and father are both sick and she has to pay for schooling of her sibling. Thats why even though she failed; she still wants to return to work abroad. Now she is studying a course on household work so she can apply as a domestic helper in another country. What fate is in store for Bernadeth?

Kamakailan lang, may 12,000 factory workers na OFWs ang nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa recession. Kaya isa-isa na silang nagbabalikan sa bansa.

Isa si Bernadeth Medianista sa mga biglaang pinauwi mula sa Taiwan noong isang linggo. Sa kanyang pagbalik, wala siyang nadalang pasalubong sa pamilya. Hindi rin kasi naibigay sa kanya ang suweldo niya sa anim na buwang pagtatrabaho sa factory doon.

Sa ngayon, hindi maisip ni Bernadeth kung saan kukunin ang pantustos sa kanyang pamilya sa Iloilo. Ang kanyang amat ina at parehong may sakit at may kapatid pang pinag-aaral. Kaya naman kahit nabigo, nais pa rin niyang makabalik sa ibang bansa para magtrabaho. Ngayon, mag-aaral naman siya ng kursong household para mag-apply ng domestic helper sa ibang bansa. Ano kaya ang kahihinatnan ng kuwento ng pakikipagsapalaran ni Bernadeth?
