Cantiga 119

This Cantiga is just one of the great selections in the Book/CD (or CD only) titled "Mandolin Music for Medieval Faires." It's a great collection of music and you can get it at our site http://www....

Las cántigas me encantan en su mayoría y una de las cosas que más me gustan de ellas es que se usan en muchas ocasiones voces femeninas, las cuales en aquella época estaban prohibidas por la Santa Iglesia.

Hi JDnx, Yes, it can be played on a guitar. I have this piece in two book/cd collections. Mostly Medieval Music for Guitar Book/CD for classical players, and Flatpicking Medieval Music for Guitar for players who prefer a pick. Both book/CD collections which are on our web site.

Yes, either written by Alfonso Sabio X or one of his court, or collected from pagan tunes and adapted by them. The variation is written by Allan Alexander

@guitarandlute It's pretty sure that King Alfonso X the Wise wrote some of the pieces, but some others are, as you say, Mossarab tunes, traditional songs or compositions by some other trobadours.
