http://www.guitar-cheshire.co.uk for Tabs and Charts of all these lessons and more! Today we're having a look at how you can sound cool soloing over the most common 'turn around' progression in Jazz... the I VI II V or Rhythm Changes. We substitute diminished arpeggios for root arpeggios to create a slightly altered sound.

  • @JimmyD9765 Thanks for the kind words, I cover the diminished 7 b9 substitution in one of my other lessons. This is just a very basic primer. Thanks for watching!

  • i think your explanation is clear... one thing you can also mention is starting out just run the arp's in 1/8 notes until it's 2nd nature switching between closest tones ... then on the A7 for any chord tone except the root, you can arpeggiate a diminished arp from that tone, the root of course you have to move up a 1/2 step and start your arp

  • I'll be honest, I don't think this is my best lesson ever... The concept is really cool and important but i'm not sure if i'm making it clear.... Play Cmaj7 Arpeggio over Cmaj7 Play Bb diminished 7 over A7 play D minor over D minor and Ab diminised 7 over G7
