  • The fort was abandoned in 1833, not 1835. This date is clearly stated in the museum located on site.

  • June 16, 1755Chignecto New Brunswick - Robert Monckton 1726-1782 leads 2,000 British troops in capture of Fort Beauséjour on the Isthmus of Chignecto from Louis Du Pont Duchambon de Vergor 1713-c1775; Fort Gaspereau, the last French fort in Acadia, surrenders the next day; giving the British full control of what is now New Brunswick.
