@deadly840 because the plot was for the conspirators to literally blow up the entire building of Parliament from its foundations with a huge supply of smuggled in gunpowder.....sound familiar? Bombs around foundation of a large important building filled with people in authority???

@Ganon575 The Fawkes Treason (even though he was but one person involved) was an attempt by people who were Catholic to eradicate what they viewed as an evil heirarchy of rich , entitled, priggish men who were harming the nation. To their way of thinking, by cutting the head off the Snake they could eliminate it piecemeal without the bloodshed of the citizenry (some even made a point in this plan of bribing many servants to not come that day...urban legend of the plot perhaps).

But shall we not forget that one man's Patriot is anothers Traitor. After all, as an American, you would have killed my nation's Father's if we had lost the war. Especially due to the fact that our colonists were fighting a guerilla war (we lost pretty much every major battle in which we fought "traditional" warfare...the stupidity of standing in a line and shooting at one another in volleys). Patriots eliminating officers first in battle were thought of as evil "terrorists".
