Since he lives on almost nothing (solar power, wood heat, simple food, no mortgage), whenever he does a job like building my Alaska cabin he saves the money. Then when he has a big project like this he can dip into it. It doesn't cost all that much if you are buying the cheapest materials in bulk from Home Depot, or getting them for free or next-to-free off Craigs List (like the $10 windows he found). Basically Jaimie saves the money by "spending" personal effort and using his creativity.

The most important thing to take away from education is the ability and desire to be a life-long learner. It takes lots of practice and discipline to be able to sit down and read for hours on end. Of course, that's not to say that education is necessary for one to become a life-long learner......

I tried building a small dome out of bamboo with your N-formula just to try the compexity of it and it worked perfectly, next im going to build a shed using wooden beams, maybe a little bit more complicated with angles and stuff. Thanks for the useful and accurate numbers. And hope everything is working out good with your robot toys, I hope i'll see one in stores soon so I can buy one :)

That is a hexagon, not a pentagon. When it comes to pre-fixes, hex means 6 penta means 5.

oh maaaan! great! i just have one question... hmmm... (sorry but my english is quite fuckedup)
the links! i mean... in the metal dome, if the N stick, is 1 m (so the others are 0.8... and so on), what happend with the links? this 1 m is from the pern? from the start of the angle? i dont know if is understandable what im saying hahaha... cause sometimes people put the perns right in the sticks, and other times, people use like a little exagon or pentagon with 5 or 6 holes and put there sticks..

Crazzzy man
love your vids. they are easy to follow and the information is very helpful. I'm just wondering if the amount of caffeine in your system would also be helpful to the rest of us! :) hehe great job on the tutorial!

@jazziejewelsbyjamie No caffeine, no ADHD. I just thought it would make a really boring video if I stood there, and spoke monotone.
I'm high on life. ....because its great.

Hi Jamie.
I love the explanations in the two videos, and am really getting a kick out of all the stuff you've been building. I must admit, I may be a little bummed when you get back to the robot! Just watching how you solve all of the little situations you run into is great.
But I've got a quick question about the dome - At the joints of each piece, is any significant error introduced? Each end is mashed down by roughly the same length, but the length of each piece varies, meaning a larger % ?

Umm..... its the length from one hole to the other hole that is important. The length of the pipe doesn't matter.
When I punched the second hole in the pipes, the first hole was on a post at a measured distance to make the distance between them consistent and accurate.
