5thWatcher, I have a feeling that if you were to get out there and see some of the world, like go and travel round Asia, experience other cultures and beliefs, I think your mind would be blown open, in a good and beautiful way. I suspect that Buddhism, and specifically it's practice of meditation would mean quite a bit to you. What happens in the brain when one meditates is fascinating, all faith and "beliefs" aside meditation is very intriguing to people living with awareness.

@5thWatcher You see or realize that preying and meditation or serving a similar purpose? Also do you not think that living life with heaven in mind is a desire? Taking into account the role of desire in the Buddhist (and Taoist) philosophy.

I ask because I am curious to how Christianity fits into peoples lives..rational people's lives. Not saying it can't because I have a friend who also has trouble with other Christians like you do. Most of the time he is quite rational.
