Keith Porteous Wood, representative of the "International Humanist and Ethical Union", addresses the protesters at the Italian Embassy, at the "NO VATICAN - London for a Secular Europe" march, 14th February 2010.
The "NO VATICAN - London for a Secular Europe" is an annual event organized in London in solidarity with the Italian "NO VAT", i.e. NO VATICAN, march held every year in Rome on the anniversary of the Lateran Treaty.
The Vatican was created by the dictator Mussolini on the 11th of February 1929 with the Lateran Treaty and since then it has gained more and more financial privileges and power on the global political scene interfering insidiously in debates in the United Nations, especially against women's rights and gay rights.
We demand a SECULAR EUROPE. We demand the end of the power and privileges of the Vatican.
The third edition of the march, on the 14th February 2010, was organized by Marco Tranchino with the Central London Humanist Group ( http://www.centrallondonhumanists.com ), in partnership with the British Humanist Association ( http://www.humanism.org.uk/no-vat ), the National Secular Society ( http://www.secularism.org.uk), Peter Tatchell's OutRage! ( http://outrage.org.uk/), the Rationalist Association ( http://newhumanist.org.uk/ra ), the Gay And Lesbian Humanist Association ( http://galha.org/ ) and the One Law for All Campaign ( http://www.onelawforall.org.uk ).
This edition's focus was on pope Ratzinger's State Visit to the UK in September 2010 and the many reasons for us to protest: http://www.protest-the-pope.org.uk

The Pod Delusion is a podcast about interesting things. From scepticism to lefty liberal things, it's commentary from a secular, rationalist, 'Guardianista',
sort of perspective. A bit like From Our Own Correspondent but with more jokes.
