About to redo some very old and worn lightheads at a 2FL1B (now 2FL2B) crossing, filmed this while waiting for the train to clear up so I can get started. These are old US&S lightheads, after this video, I took them apart and cleaned, rewired, relensed them, and put new visors and redid the backgrounds on them and so forth, and they are much better now. I redid the other side a few days prior. I swing the camera around to show the train departing, the other signal, my work truck, and the case before turning it off. Anyway, nothing exciting, pretty good angle on the train, I set the camera at the junction box at the base of the mast, hope you enjoy.
Also, this is the same train I got in another video, just several miles down the road, not hard to catch up when they run 25MPH. John Allen (Engineer) is still apparently working on mastering the "long, long, short, long" horn sequence, heh heh....

  • I see that this crossing don't have crossing gates on them!!!

  • No sir. Thats the only reason the bells continue to ring as the train is passing.

  • Very Good Video

  • Thanks Walter! You'll have to ride along with me someday.

  • I just put the GS bell there, and put one up on the other side also. I had to take down the old Teardrop bell, it was just plain wore out.

  • ARE THESE EX-SOU?????

  • Love those engines! Nice set up too!

  • bad horn

  • Very nice shot. 5*

  • I want them for my collection.

  • Excellent P5, nice High Hoods, 5*

  • Just called a friend who works there. They're averaging 1000 cars a month in 2009. That's about 100 cars a month less than the prior year.

  • ...i meant to put the paper mills are still running strong

  • GC still runs about 30 cars a day i live near GC and ive been watchin them for 12 or 13 years its rare for me to miss them

  • Sad. They used to be a pretty healthy shortline. Lost a lot of their Kaolin traffic and the papermills are down.

Hopefully in the long run those carloads will come back.
