Latin Jazz: Panchito playing Live - Resurreccion -

This ten-piece Latin Jazz orchestra from Rotterdam has steadily been on it's way up since the release of their debut "Resurrección" and already has made its marks in Latin and Jazz music worldwide!

No wonder that this group, under the artistic leadership of André van Berlo, has become a true success story! Their music has been aired on radio stations world wide among which are Jose Rizo's show "Jazz on the latin side" and Rafe Gomez' US national radio show "The Groove Boutique", and got a great number of reviews in magazines among which: Latin Beat Magazine! They even managed to enter the US jazz album charts on the 23rd place and stay in the charts for more than 7 weeks.

Panchito consists of ten handsome, driven, passionate men who are in the bloom of their lives and are really exploding with energy! They combine all of the important musical elements in one amazing package: powerful performances, pristine production, boundless energy, original arrangements, and phat Latin rhythms!

Sinds de release van hun debuut album Resurrección gaat het alleen maar crescendo met de 10 koppige Latin Jazz formatie uit Rotterdam, en zijn ze niet meer weg te denken uit de Nederlandse Jazz en Latin scene.

Het zijn allemaal jonge heren die een enorme hoeveelheid muzikale bagage met zich meebrengen uit groepen als bijv. New Cool Collective, Nueva Manteca, Cubop City Bigband, maar floreren werkelijk stuk voor stuk in deze eigentijdse energieke combinatie van Nederlands muzikaal talent!

Niet verwonderlijk dat deze groep onder leiding van gitarist/componist André van Berlo een waar succes is geworden want in het jaar na het verschijnen van hun debuut plaat worden de mannen wereldwijd gedraaid op radio stations wereldwijd, schrijft Nelson Rodriguez een artikel over de groep in het befaamde blad Latin Beat Magazine, behalen ze maar liefst de 23e plek in de Amerikaanse Jazz Album Charts, en houdt het notoir moeilijk plugbare station KJAZZ in Lost Angeles maar niet op om plaatjes van Panchito de ether in te slingeren!

De opvolger van hun eerste plaat draagt de naam "Secrets" en laat horen dat Panchito er geen twijfel over wil laten bestaan: ze behoren tot de absolute top!
Door de muziek van dit nieuwe album hoor je dat in de groep het hart klopt van een ware cubaan. Alsof ze zelf tropische stormen hebben moeten trotseren, of opgegroeid zijn op hagelwitte stranden, spelen ze hun muziek met onvervalste passie en eigenheid menig hart sneller zal doen kloppen...

Met andere woorden: Panchito is een groep knappe, gedreven jonge mannen die in de bloei van hun leven staan en bruisen van energie. De muziek spettert, hun passie betovert, en samen herschrijven ze de wetten van Latin én Jazz waardoor het een verwarmende unieke beleving wordt voor iedereen!

Knowing that the performances on the cd are so extremely much better I am longing for the time that there will be a better soundtrack for a tube-film of Panchito in te nearby furure.

I was there in Rainbow-park and it was wonderful watching at the audience growing extremely enthusiastic about the exciting solos, the lovely, wonderful rhythm of the music of Panchito....
