A topping-off event for the first building in the Binghamton University East Campus Housing project was held on Tuesday, February 17, at the construction site on the Binghamton campus.
Binghamton University President Lois B. DeFleur was joined by Vice President for Student Affairs Brian Rose, and Lyle Corey, senior vice president and partner with LeChase Construction Services, as the last pieces of steel were put into place, a significant milestone in the construction project.
General construction activity continues for the first building in the project, sited on parking lots S-1 and S-2 adjacent to Newing's Bingham Hall and Dickinson Community's Champlain Hall. The targeted completion for the first building is fall 2009.
The entire $300 million project will be completed in 2013. Additional Newing buildings and the collegiate center for both communities will be completed before work begins on the Dickinson Community.
