The morning after the House passed the health care reform bill 220-215, with the lone Republican vote from Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao of Louisiana, McClatchy Newspapers' Steve Thomma comments that Cao is "probably a one-term Congressman anyway" and alleges Cao "cut a deal with the White House" in making the vote.

  • Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao has been known as one most honest Congressman as he works for his people and most importantly of his conscience . We certainly need more republicans like him and I am sure Americans will vote for him again and again in coming terms.

  • I see Orchard6773 is copy and pasting his way around all the videos again.

Cao might not get re-elected but he knows his district and therefore did what was right for the people he represents.

  • fat ass... We'll see if this fat ass is right in 2012.....

  • And, a big haw-haw to these local yokel pundits. He voted against his (Republican) party for something he knows will benefit his constituents (mostly Democrats), and got some goodies besides. This will get him reelected "numbah one, fo' shua, GI."

Considering Vietnam's last 1,100 years has been continuous political warfare, it's not clever to assume a Vietnamese has no political instincts. No, not clever at all.

  • mermaid, coming from a Republican supporter of the PUblic option, I support Joseph Cao as it takes a lot of guts to go against the popular thing.

  • Yes, you are right KarmicOmen. The good for Cao's district didn't come from his vote, but from the bribe by Obama for his vote! Everyone knows Obama uses people for personal gain so Cao was essentially used, abused, and excused for his endorsement.

  • Did he even read what his 11/07/2009 vote endorsed? Tell me how good this is for his poor constituents when the bill describes the penalties as follows for not buying into ObamaCare -- a $15,000 policy:

    • Section 7203 — misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

    • Section 7201 — felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years. [page 3]

  • why does it have to be about reelection? if he did what was best for his constituents then he has nothing to worry about. if they don't want a representative who cares about them then it's their lost.

this possibly one-term congressman made more impact and did more for his people than his predecessor. that's something to be proud of.

  • *sniff sniff sniff* I smell BRIBERY!

  • Because of this vote, he has become very popular in his constituency. People won't let go such a committed representative.

  • Unfortunately you know that fat piece of s**t Rush Limbaugh is going to destroy Ahn Cao on his radio show.
