Since 1991, Presidents of both parties and both Houses of Congress have declared March as Irish American Heritage Month. However, many of our public institutions, while actively promoting other heritage months yearly at taxpayer expense, refuse to recognize Irish American Heritage Month. Shouldn't the role of Irish Americans in our Nations history be equally recognized?

  • Look up "Presidential Proclamation--Irish American Heritage Month" For Immediate Release March 01, 2010. Obama just released it.

  • It's great that it is proclaimed, the sad fact is that our public Institutions don't recognize it. The Smithsonian puts on programs for Black History Month, Asian Pacific Islander Month, Hispanic Heritage Month and American Indian (their words) Month .

The Smithsonian does nothing for Irish American Heritage Month,

  • It already is ours...We took it yesterday..Search "MAKE MARCH IRISH HISTORY MONTH NOW!!!" on Facebook....We are'nt waiting on anyone else to make it official anymore...We just did

  • I think you missed the end of the video. It's great that it is proclaimed, unfortunately many of our Public Institution refuse to recognize it. The Smithsonian for example put on extensive programs for Black History Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and American Indian Heritage Month; they do nothing fro Irish American Heritage Month. No one is denying that those heritages should be recognized but equal recognition should be given to the Irish
