@mytube6913 I have a friend who pet sits and when she had a hedgie, the wheel must have had mesh wire too large for its feet, and one got hung in the wheel and tore a back leg out of the socket.

How are the pads of his feet? I've read that they are sensitive and can get sore from running on rough surfaces. My hedgehog uses the same style wheel, but I line it with craft-foam. He runs much faster than this, and for hours at a time. The way this hedgehog is moving makes me think the wire hurts his feet.
Also, I use canola oil to grease the axil of the wheel. It gets rid of that squeek completely. =)

That wheel isn't good for a hedgehog. You need something with a solid ground, and NO crossbars.

Igel's feet are considerably larger than the wire mesh, and I keep his claws trim--he's never had any issues with this wheel. Thanks for your concern :)
