The bottom comment was all learned from hard knocks literally. If you pull off the turtle right the wave will just hit you transferring it's energy though you instead of against you. You'll just go straight down like a buoy without having to use your muscles. Should feel really simple. But I have to say after 12+ all bets are off because the wave just destroys everything in front of it. Nuff said!!

Yeah no style crap flow but he go!!! The only way 2 turtle w/ a longboard in big waves Hawaiian 8+ is when ur paddling out you c that monster wave you want 2 paddle as fast as you can right up to the wave. Then quickly go 2 the nose of ur board grab both sides of the nose and flip ur body n the board at the same time. U need 2 pull the nose of the board straight over your head so your arms are out stretched over head with your elbows locked out. You should form an L shape in the water.
