$8.00 for 2 pounds of steel copper coated wire, 2 insulators and some scrap rope, a bit of coax and you got yourself a easy to build folded dipole for SWL.

$8.00 With loads of wire left over, what more could you ask for? how about a yard about 2km long and 1km wide! lol

  • Wow, you got some really clear reception with that home-made antenna. Good work. How does it compare to your other antennas?

I was not clear on what you were doing when you said you were "tuning" it or what the DSP is for. I have my license but I'm still a n00b. I might try making an antenna like yours.

  • @field16 Howdy, going to make another video tonight showing you what i mean by tuneing and about the DSP unit it self!

  • @field16 update: DONT USE MIG WELDING WIRE OUTSIDE, IT WELL RUST BIG TIME!! nothing ventured, nothing gained i always say! lol

  • Nice work.

I use a very similar setup for SWL (Terminated folded dipole and DX 394)

Just one thing I hope you waterproofed your coax so it does not get ruined by the rain or humidity.

  • @radionut63 Thanks for that update! Maybe it could be coated with some kind of weather sealing paint. But yeah, rust is an issue outside we have to work around.
