  • Wow, I am just a G-scale model railroader. What you and how you do it, looks awesome (very realistic in my book) and you make it look so easy. I wish I had your knowledge.

  • @SteveWard3928 - There is no such thing as 'just' a G scale modeler. I've seen some amazingly impressive G scale layouts, including those who actually model them outside in their gardens. And, we'll let you in on a little secret...it really is easy!!!! :-)

  • I make polymer clay creations. I was wondering if I use the realistic water, would it effect the polymer clay at all? Like the paint I use on it or the clay itself, will it bleed? I wanted to make a little girl playing in a pond, and maybe have a dog sitting in a tub. Maybe fill a tub thats 2ins tall and wide. Will that take long to dry?

  • @butt3rflykiss3s69 - Realistic Water will eat away at Polymer clay. If you seal the clay figure really well with a high-quality 100% acrylic paint, it may be okay. But, we have never tested this application & we do not know if there are any long term effects on a Polymer clay figure setting in RW for an extended period of time. We do not recommend the two be used together. If you do decide to use Realistic Water, we recommend it be poured no thicker than ½” overall.

  • Can i use realistic water on Apoxy clay ?

  • @Steamtostay - Since we don't make PVA glue, we don't know its formula. Our Scenic Glue formula is proprietary information. If your question concerns using one vs. the other with Realistic Water, the answer is that we design our products to be used together. We have not tested Realistic Water with PVA glue and do not know the results. The PVA glue could cause an adverse reaction with the Realistic Water, and we do not recommend using the two together. Hope this helps!

  • @ModelSceneryExpert Thanks for that. Incidentally, what's the difference between PVA and Scenic Glue?

  • @Steamtostay - 1. Realistic Water can evaporate up to 50%. It is a slow process to fill something deep & RW should be poured no deeper than ½”. Neither PVA glue nor Water Effects are recommended to create a barrier for Realistic Water. If your water feature extends to the diorama edge, use clear acetate/styrene to make a damn, or make a ½” thick barrier/ bank with Plaster Cloth sealed with Flex Paste and then landscape. For a low (1/4”) barrier use Scenic Glue or Low Temp Hot Glue.

  • Two questions with the realistic water product - 1. I've tried using it (in thin layers) to fill up my water tank models but it seems to keep evaporating (i.e. the 'water' level keeps decreasing, but it's not leaking out anywhere).

    2. On another layout I've got a river that extends to the edge, where I need it to be about half an inch thick; how do I stop the RW from dribbling out? Should I build a clear wall with PVA or Water Effects? Perspex isn't an option in this case.
