I got this camera about 5 months ago, its great! personally, canons are better, i've used nikons before and they're pretty slow in my opinion. the only problem i have with it is that i have a kit lens, so its pretty limited and i would like to have a wider lense or better focus ring, but i would recommend to you a canon t3i if you can afford it, or if you're not in too much of tight budget get a 60D from amazon

I'm gonna get a pro cam these days , and this cam caught my eye. Is this good? My friends tell me to get a Nikon cam , since they say Canon lenses is really cheap.
Opinions anyone? Should I get this? Oh and I'm a beginner , I just like taking pictures and videos. I'm a teenager.

@Cpmaster4587 The Canon 500D or Canon Rebel T1i (USA) is very different from the newer model the Canon 550D or Canon Rebel T2i (USA)
In terms of video the 500D only records 20fps at 1080p and in 720p it records at 30fps.
The 550D by far is the better camera for video recording.
It still is one of the most widely used cameras for video today. 550D records 1080p in 1080p @ 30, 25 or 24 fps and 720p @ 50/60 fps. With 50/60 fps you can slow video down to a slow motion smoothly.
